Lumière Inn is a place where you will enter the 1890s and experience a life different. When you walk through the doors and enter the reception hall you step back in time in this historic home built in 1893 by Mr. Beverly Moss, founder of the Moss Planing Mill, for his mother and 2 sisters. Lumière Inn is located right on Main St. in the heart of The Original Washington, NC Historic District, mere steps from the downtown shops, restaurants, free public docks, and the beautiful boardwalk and waterfront. Relax on the shady front porch swing or stroll over to the river waterfront and wile the evening away watching the beautiful sunset and slow river traffic from one of the town’s nostalgic waterfront swings. Enjoy the tranquil river life with with one of the sailing, dinner or sunset cruises offered by the Jennie B Schooner or Belle of Washington.If you are looking for a more energetic visit there is plenty of activities for you to participate in. Excellent running routes, endless cycling on the roads less traveled or kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding on numerous waterways and back creeks with their cypress trees decorated with spanish moss and coastal wildlife. Kayak and paddle board rentals are available 5 blocks away. A short drive and you have available 7 wildlife refuges and several state parks to enjoy a wealth of hiking and nature.
